Beethoven, twice the effect !

Hector Berlioz
Damnation of Faust, « Hungarian Walk »
Étienne Nicolas Méhul
Symphony No.1
Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphony No.5

For the first time, two orchestras playing period instruments, the German Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and France’s Insula orchestra, join forces for a concert with twice the effect. Together, they open with the Hungarian March from Berlioz Damnation of Faust and Symphony n° 1 by Etienne Nicolas Méhul, dubbed the “French Beethoven”. The concert continues with Beethoven’s Symphony n° 5, instantly recognizable from its opening bars.
