In this concert, Laurence Equilbey exalts Haendel’s vocal music, both sacred and profane. Virtuoso opera arias such as Ariodante and Rodelinda respond to the brilliant Dixit Dominus. Composed at just 22 years old, this motet is a striking example of the German and Lutheran composer’s capacity to fully assimilate both Italian style and Latin liturgy. Three soloists and Haendel specialists will perform side by side with accentus and Insula Orchestra: Francesca Aspromonte, Lea Desandre and Lawrence Zazzo.
