Choral Fantasy
Mixed-media artist Tal Isaac Hadad invites audiences to an original concert experience centred on Beethoven’s music for the stage, composed between 1808 and 1813. Video, abstract and sculptural space set the scene for a visual tale in which the sound textures of König Stephan and The Ruins of Athens, two pieces with magnificent choral sections, celebrate the bond between the Austrian and Hungarian nations. Hadad’s configuration reveals the beauty of the Choral Fantasy, written to a poem by Christophe Kuffner, and setting the intimacy of the piano against an orchestral development and the choir’s humanist message prefiguring the celebrated “Ode to Joy” of the Ninth Symphony. An experience for the eyes and ears under the leadership of Laurence Equilbey.
