French music holds the spotlight in this concert alongside the Paris Chamber Orchestra and soprano Sandrine Piau. Undulating vocal lines and chiselled harmony in the Melodies, symphonic writing in which each instrument is imagined for its timbre in the Shylock suite, world-famous Danse Macabre… Fauré, Saint-Saëns and Massenet were among the most renowned composers of their time and leave behind them cornerstones of the repertoire, culminating with one of the most moving Requiems in Western music.
